The above example makes use of the following features:

Mobile terminal:

  • Graphical windows enabled Smart Phone

  • SMS capability

MAP-Unit:

  • GSM connectivity.

  • Up to 15 20mA current loop inputs.

  • Serial host interface (RS232, optional TCP/IP).

Sensor interface:

  • Analogue sensor to 20mA current loop translator.

Central Office server:

  • Windows based PC.

  • Host control application for monitoring, control, alarm handling and reporting tools.

A simple application can be devised to monitor and control the temperature of an industrial storage unit using the above devices.
